Welcome to my world! I'm Jiwon, and I'm delighted you're spending part of your day with me on this site.

This site began as a parenting blog — a natural home for a Communication Ph.D. and former media studies professor with a lot to say about raising curious, culturally grounded kids. That work still lives here. But writing has a way of going where curiosity leads.

These days, I write about Korea. Its history, its democracy, its contradictions, and the cultural patterns that make it unlike anywhere else. I’m a Korean-American who has spent a lifetime moving between two worlds — and that vantage point shapes everything I write.

My essays, newsletter, and podcast all live on Substack — it’s where I show up most, and where the real conversation happens. This site is the overview. Come find me there if you want to go deeper.
